Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is Mother God?
Mother God is feminine energy side of the Godhead. The feminine aspect of God pervades and penetrates all things in creation. As the mother of all humanity, She is always available to all men and women and is responsible for all life. Although personally involved in everyone and everything, she is the most mystifying and most misunderstood being in the universe.
2. Where has She been?
The Divine Feminine has left our consciousness because society scorns women and denies deity a female face. Examining the documentary evidence proves undeniably that repression, suppression and mistreatment of women has been reinforced by the political and spiritual regimes of the past 2,000 years. The female kinship customs and the reverence of the female deity was the underlying reason for the resentment of the worship of the Goddess by patriarchal invaders. The people who believed in male deities held a superior attitude over female deities, which often led to the suppression of Goddess worship. Commands for the destruction of the religion of the Goddess were built into the very canons and laws of the male religions that replaced it. As a result, Mother God’s love and power has been very limited by humanity’s spiritual ignorance.
3. Why haven't I heard about Mother God?
Most people become flustered, upset, and even angry when it is suggested that the God they know as Lord and Father might also be called God the Mother. Male chauvinism has been devaluing and disenfranchising women simply because of their gender. For hundreds of generations male supremacy has been suggested, declared, explained and affirmed by those who believed in the Bible as the sacred word of the Creator. Images of Mother God help to break the hold of male control that has shaped our images not only of God but of all significant power in the universe. As long as women are seen as inferior, evil, and sexually seductive, it will be impossible to see the femininity of God.
4. Are the Goddesses of pre-historic times the same as today's Mother God?
The metaphor of Mother Earth permeates our consciousness at many levels. The Goddess of ancient traditions has many names and has always represented the divine motherhood of all people and things. Mother God has manifested Herself in many ways to suit different cultures at different periods of time.
5. What about Father God?
Make no mistake about it, Father God wants to parent with Mother God. A father’s love is naturally different than a mother’s love. God as Father is not of the same all-infusing, and nourishing nature as Mother God. Father God love is equally unconditional, unlimited and unending but more absolute and strict than Mother God. Kind of like different kind of love you would expect from an earthly mother or father.
6. Why is it important to know Mother God?
Men and women need to turn to their feminine energy to clarify their own identity, to embrace their whole potential and to fulfill their spirituality. A society that reveres nature and the feminine creates beauty, love, and equality. Mother God has the power of intelligent embodied love and She bring these values to consciousness and help us build communities in which we can create a more just, peaceful, and harmonious world. True spirituality upholds Mother God as the role model for female power, dignity and value. New perspectives about the feminine nature of God could create a paradigm shift that would change the world forever.
7. How does She manifest Herself?
Mother God is fully within the world and within us. She is both immanent and transcendent. Mother God is internally related to everything in the world. The varied aspects of the Goddess can shape and influence any culture because it is polytheistic, inclusive, and holistic. She is affected in the depth of Her being by everything that exists and everything that happens in the world. The inspiration of the universe as an all-giving Mother has survived through time.
8. Why don't the main religions teach about Her?
The Goddess hypothesis challenges historians of religion to abandon their almost exclusive commitment to text, requiring them to accept new evidence to build new theory. It challenges biblical and traditional ideas about the nature of God that would make many feel uncomfortable. Traditional religions are unable to defuse aggression, anger, and violence. A new spiritual awakening is needed to promote constructive thinking. Even though Christians, Jews and Muslims have devoted two thousand or more years to God the Father, the world still does not resemble heaven on earth.
9. Why is Mother God returning?
The return of Mother God is needed to help adjust our thinking in order to overcome the problems of life. She stresses the feminine, earthly, instinctual, and sensitive aspects of existence. These changes entail new understandings of masculinity and femininity in both men and women and the relations between the sexes. Our technology with its pollution and unbalanced ecology has brought our planet face to face with its own mortality. This estrangement from nature and from ourselves is caused by a one-sided view of reality. This loss of the Divine Feminine has endangered civilization and is clearly reflected in the emphasis on conquest and drive for power in modern culture.
10. What does Mother God returning mean?
The symbolism of the Goddess has taken on an electrifying power for modern women. The rediscovery of ancient matrifocal civilizations has given women a deep sense of pride in women’s ability to create and sustain culture. It has exposed the falsehoods of patriarchal history and given women models of female strength and authority. As women constitute at least half of the population, future prosperity for all countries would be ensured if men and women share tasks working side by side. Humankind will benefit in more ways than one from the kinder and gentler gender-balanced divinity. God is the male/female parent of all mankind. Until the Divine Mother is welcome back into the hearts of humanity, healing of the planet will not take place. When there is an understanding of the divine feminine nature of God, the world will be transformed into Her living image of love and justice.
11. What are the differences between Mother God and Father God?
Mother God represents the original divine femininity and is the role model for women while Father God represents the original divine masculinity and is the role model for men. Women can more naturally relate to Mother God than men while men can more easily naturally relate to Father God than women. You could say in simple terms that there is a male Godhead and a female Godhead. Mother God and Father God's thinking, attitude, needs, and desires are different.
12. What are the similarities between Mother God and Father God?
Both Mother and Father God are heart-broken and lonely because most of humanity does not know their true heart and identity. Mother and Father God only desire to create an ideal world together with their children. Mother and Father God have same heart of love for all their children and the creation.
