God recognizes that God doesn’t have the resources to give you what you want and need. How many times have we degraded God, put God in that position where God has to beg, borrow, and steal to give us what we want, knowing full well that tomorrow we’ll be moving on to the next thing? We must remind ourselves when we are trying to grapple with what is our human responsibility that not only do we have needs but God similarly has needs. The question is where do the needs of God fit into human understanding? Can we, as a human race, say we are responsible enough to accept that God has needs? We don’t have a lot of theology about the concept that God has needs. Nonetheless, God would want to express Herself uniquely through each person in their relationship with the creation.
It is the tremendous hope of God to engage in a true love relationship with every single human being. Yet there are a lot of people in the world that are lonely that don’t feel God is looking out for them. They don’t feel it. They might know it but they don’t feel it. We say that God is a parent because it makes sense but we have put labels on God that are severely lacking. Still, God will continue despite what we do to raise us as children because that is just who God is. God is not about forcing things down your throat. God is limited by the limit in which we have developed our character. Failed human objectivity is extremely limiting to God. Yet, there is a profound, mutual joy that God and people experience when there is an open relationship.
